Des Welsh

Des was born in Belfast in 1955, and from an early age has drawn and painted. At the age of sixteen this talent lead him to take an engineering apprenticeship and eventually become a Technical Illustrator/Author within the Aerospace Industry in Belfast for over 40 years. Here he produced drawings and text to support technical publications for various aircraft.

Totally self taught and no formal education in art, Des now paints full time from his home in Bangor County Down, Northern Ireland. Working primarily in acrylic, he also enjoys using the simplicity of pencil. He has a passion for tightly focused landscape, wildlife and human portraits.  Musicians and singer songwriters are very close to his heart. His work has been sold in the United Kingdom and also USA.​
