Stumps in the Shallows

Stumps in the shallows is a abstract landscape based on the theme of water reflections, textures and the beauty of nature in its simple expressive ways. We can walk past so many beautiful and interesting scenes without seeing the intrinsic value of the everyday, it can become so common place that we can miss it. This was my thoughts when I saw this on a local walk with the family near the village of Bedwas, near to Caerphilly. The stumps, or stepping stone looking objects lead the eye into a cove of reflections, spiky reeds and outstretched branches. The shapes that come out of the trees, leaves and textures in the shallows were really fascinating to paint.

Oil on Jackson’s finest board. 4mm thick. It can be hung as is, or framed to suit.
