Dave Armstrong Art

Dave Armstrong works from his home studio in Chester le Street, County Durham.

After leaving a 29 year career in the family construction business, he now divides his time between being a foster parent and his creative work.

Whilst having some formal art training, Dave considers himself to be largely self taught. He describes his aspirational landscape painting style as his “Northern Theatre Art”; featuring a combination of real and imagined scenes. Inspiration comes easily from the beautiful Northern dales, vales and rugged coastline.

Working primarily with Acrylics, his paintings are built up with a heavily textured under layer, strong tone and a harmonious muted palette; producing his trademark simple yet striking scenes.
