As a graduate from The Ruskin School of Art (Oxford University), Debra spends her time between being a practising artist in London, UK and teaching and running art workshops, as well as getting away to new places to paint. She loves the opportunity to explore a theme in depth through traditional fine art mediums as well as in mosaic medium.
She hopes to capture the movements and presence of the human form, alongside the ordinary moments and sensuality of life in her urban landscapes, travel scenes, flower, figure studies and portraits.
Influenced by Expressionist artwork and artists which look beyond the surface of the lived reality, she enjoys using heightened colour and unexpected juxtapositions in her compositions. Through these distortions, Debra aims to bring the viewer more viscerally in touch with the emotional aspect of the scene or person depicted.
